Accessibility statement

Last updated

We want everyone to be able to use this website, whatever device or assistive technology they use. As a site about accessibility, we hold ourselves to the same standard we look for in the products we review.

Our standard

We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA.

As far as we know, the website meets WCAG 2.2 AA, apart from the limitations listed below.

What you should be able to do

You should be able to:

  • use the whole website with a keyboard alone, with a clearly visible focus indicator
  • skip straight to the main content using the “Skip to content” link
  • navigate by headings, landmarks and links with a screen reader
  • zoom up to 400% without text overlapping or the page scrolling sideways
  • enlarge text in your browser settings without losing content or features
  • read all text with a colour contrast of at least 4.5 to 1
  • turn off page transition animations by switching on “reduce motion” in your device settings

We also use Atkinson Hyperlegible Next, a typeface designed by the Braille Institute to make letters easier to tell apart.

Known limitations

  • Links to other websites. Our articles link to product and vendor websites. We can’t control how accessible those websites are.
  • Search and topic filters need JavaScript. If JavaScript is turned off or fails to load, the Reviews page lists every article instead, so all content is still available.
  • Illustrations. The comparison table on the home page is an illustration. Screen readers get a short summary of it instead of the individual figures.

If you find a problem that isn’t listed here, please tell us.

How we tested this website

We last tested the website on 14 October 2026. Testing covered the home page, the Reviews page (including search and filters), every published article, and our other pages, and included:

  • automated testing with the axe-core accessibility engine against WCAG 2.2 A and AA
  • keyboard-only testing of navigation, menus, search, filters and the “Load more” button
  • measuring colour contrast, including text over background graphics
  • checking layouts at 320 pixels wide and at 200% and 400% zoom

We retest when we make significant changes to the website’s design or features.
